ABFM members Can Chen (Georgia State University) and John R. Bartle (University of Nebraska at Omaha) recently published a new book, Innovative Infrastructure Finance: A Guide for State and Local Governments, through Springer-Palgrave Macmillan. The federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act of 2021 represents the largest public investment in infrastructure since the Interstate Highway system. While state and local governments face a serious infrastructure deficit, there are a growing number of innovations in state and local infrastructure financing. However, current information on innovative financing is scattered and timeā€consuming to find.

This book fills that gap and offers practical suggestions for state and local government managers who are considering their adoption and implementation of innovative infrastructure financing. It provides detailed case studies that describe new approaches to fund state and local infrastructure development. These lessons in applying innovations are particularly useful for state and local government practitioners, policy analysts, and faculty and students in public administration, policy, and public finance.
