Our friends at the Government Finance Officers Association are inviting scholars to apply for a GovFi Prize cash award for answering long-standing public finance questions. GFOA seeks proposals for research addressing four specific questions:

  • Is the 80-20 Rule Operative for Financial Analysts’ Use of Financial Reports?
  • What is the Cost of Compliance with GAAP Accounting and Reporting Standards?
  • What Does the Public Really Want to Know about Public Finance?
  • Do Financial Reports Impact Policy Making?

Selected proposals will receive startup funding and be eligible for prizes of up to $8,000 for completed articles to be published in a future edition of the Public Finance Journal.

Proposals are due by January 22, 2024. For more information, see the GovFi Prize page of the GFOA website.
