Survey of ABFM Experts

The Survey of ABFM Experts explores ABFM members’ views on key policy debates. Survey topics, questions, and respondents are determined by the ABFM Expert Survey Committee. Respondents are selected on the basis of their subject matter expertise. Each respondent is asked to rate their level of agreement with each of the survey’s statements and rate their confidence level with their answer. They are also invited to write comments on each question. All responses and comments are shared publicly. The survey’s methodology was inspired in part by the Clark Center for Global Markets.

Survey 1:

Nonprofit Finance

The survey asks policy experts about the effectiveness of nonprofits. Topics include how to assess the effectiveness of nonprofits and how they should be regulated or taxed.

Survey 2:

Property Tax Reform

The survey asks policy experts about property taxation as a method of collecting revenue for local governments. Questions cover proposed changes to property taxes as well as comparison to other potential ways to raise revenue.

Survey 3:

Federal Budgeting

The survey asks policy experts about the current federal debt. Respondents answer whether they think the debt is too high, what solutions could exist, and if current efforts will have a positive effect on the problem.
