The Department of Public Administration & Policy at the University at Albany’s Rockefeller College of Public Affairs & Policy invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor beginning fall 2020.

Applicants must possess a specialization in public budgeting, public finance, and/or public financial management. Candidates must be committed to excellence in scholarly research and should be effective teachers. Faculty in Rockefeller College are expected to pursue an active research program, teach and supervise undergraduate and graduate students, and engage in service activities.

We welcome applications from candidates engaged in high-quality research and who employ a variety of methodological approaches. Applicants must have a research agenda that demonstrates a substantial, ongoing interest in government and the public sector. Candidates are expected to teach core undergraduate and graduate courses as well as courses that are specific to the department’s public financial management concentration. We have a preference for applicants who are able to teach undergraduate statistics courses.

Experience in the practice of public or managerial finance is preferred but not required. Experience seeking grants is also desirable. Applicants must have a Ph.D. by September 1, 2020. The successful candidate will likely have a doctorate in public administration, public policy, public affairs, or an allied field such as economics or finance. Applicants should have a trajectory that suggests a tenurable research record is likely. Additionally, applicants must 1) be able to teach core public budgeting and financial management graduate and undergraduate courses, 2) be willing and able to mentor graduate and undergraduate students, 3) be able or have the potential to fulfill the mission and goals of Rockefeller College, and 4) possess excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

Salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
